The Re-Work program has been developed in Japan to build resilience in people with mood disorders who desire to return to work after taking sick leave. It provides psychoeducation in a group therapy setting, and participants have opportunities to use learned skills in an occupational therapy setting.
A new measure, the Psychiatric Rework Readiness Scale (PRRS), was developed to measure this readiness for returning to work. The PRRS comprises 23 items in eight domains and has good internal consistency, inter-rater reliability, and predictive validity in people who return to work after treatment as usual.
The prognosis for relapse prevention may be better in Re-Work program participants than for people in a control group (Treatment as usual).
