PP. 367-379. In the 19th century, the Swiss whey cure flourished in the German-speaking countries with its specialized facility called Molkenkuranstalt in chalet-style architecture. Afterward, the milk cure became a healthy pastime, and the buildings – Milchkuranstalt, Schweizerei, Meierei, and Milchhalle – were converted to cafés, restaurants, or inns. The chalet-style design was still preferred to create the Swiss atmosphere, and the trend continued into the 20th century, but it began to decline during WW2.
