本稿は19世紀後半から20世紀前半にかけて展開したイギリスの児童描画教育を歴史的に跡付け、その根底に西洋の自然観の転回との関連性を見出そうとしたものである。自然への崇敬と子どもの自然性に関する評価、原始的美術と子どもの原始性に関する評価などを比較検討した。
